Louisiana down the pan

by Jess McCabe // 3 June 2006, 14:57

Louisiana has become the latest state to take a step backwards in time and human progress and pass a law banning abortion.

There's not much to say, other than to note yet another depressing sign that the US is heading rapidly down hill towards a crisis point on this issue. These laws will be challenged, and sooner or later women's rights will hang in the balance of a single court case.

Is it really possible that the US could reverse the legality of abortion, wholesale? I think it's more likely that the situation will deteriorate into a post code lottery. From this side of the atlantic, all we can do is hope that doesn't happen.
