I am not an ifeminist

What, you might ask, is an ifeminist? Is it a feminist autobot, come to replace your humble human bloggers completely?

Well, no. It's an individualist feminist. According to ifeminists.com:

As the cost of freedom, ifeminists accept personal responsibility for their own lives. They do not look to government for privileges any more than they would accept government abuse. Ifeminists want legal equality, and they offer the same respect to men.

As in, ifeminists are right-wing conservatives who believe that free healthcare and childcare are evil communist plots. If they were British, they'd read the Daily Mail and use the term "nanny state" in conversation.

Ifeminists are not a product of the women's movement or feminists. They are a project of the Independent Institute. The Independent Institute is a right-wing US think tank, one of the institutions that has been funded by Exxon Mobil to deny that human beings are responsible for climate change.

Thank you to AlterNet for alerting me to the alleged existence of the ifeminist.
