"A partnership, not a merger"

If I ever get married, I won't be changing my surname.

Eighteen years ago, I signalled that this might be a partnership, but it wasn't a merger, and would never be a takeover. Along with maintaining my financial independence, it is the most important thing I've done as a married woman.
