Baghdad Burning on Radio 4

by Barbara Felix // 17 December 2006, 15:40

Just a quick entry to point out that the book of the week on Radio 4 next week is Riverbend's 'Baghdad Burning', at 10:45am and repeated at 7:45pm Mon-Fri. I've read both the book and the blog, and it reveals a true insiders account of what's going on in Iraq as well as being a truly great work of literature in its own right.

Would also like to add, as far as comments about the Ipswich murders are concerned, someone emailed Broadcasting House this morning to point out that it's only in recent days that some reports have started referring to the murdered women as women, as opposed to prostitutes. Was wondering if an analysis of the reporting codes and language used to report this case and the Yorkshire Ripper case was in order to see if the way the victims were referred to differs any, I suspect not.
