Walk highlights black servicewomen of WWII

Women played a significant role in World War II, but when you think of a service woman of that era, it is likely you're thinking of a white woman.
The Imperial War Museum is putting on a walk on 10 March which should help to set the record straight.
Among those featured will be writer and broadcaster Una Marson and service women such as Lilian Bader (WAAF) and Connie Mark (ATS). There will be a special tribute to entertainers such as Josephine Baker, Adelaide Hall and Elisabeth Welch and Stephen will also remember his Aunt Esther, a black Londoner, who served as a fire watcher during the Blitz.
For non-military history geeks, WAAF apparently stands for Women's Auxiliary Air Force and ATS stands for Auxiliary Territorial Service.
