Karnataka women banned from night shift

bangalore at nightWomen are to be banned from working the night shift in the southern Indian state of Karnataka, if the government gets its way, reports the Deccan Herald.

Local blogger Apu, who is behind the brilliant Cubically Challenged, gives full vent to her feelings on the subject:

There are also a number of other jobs, which are extremely hazardous to men - working in mines, ship-breaking yards. No one suggests that these dangerous jobs should be outlawed, cos, gasp there are men working in these jobs, who need them.
