…you can’t walk down the street of an evening without having groping motions made at you, being called both ‘ugly minger’ and ‘sexy bitch’ and just generally being laughed at in an aggressive manner.

This all happened in the ten minutes between leaving my friends at the bus stop and walking down the main drinking strip in Sheffield back to my house, dodging my way around groups of abusive male drinkers.

I ignored the first group, but was annoyed at myself for not saying anything, so told the next group to fuck off, at which they laughed riotously in an outraged, ‘how dare you respond to us’ kinda way, called me a ‘southern fairy’ and made as though to run at me.

Way to enforce women’s fear of sexual assualt, guys, thanks.
