Ratzinger bans “feminist” interpretations
By Louise Livesey | 2 March 2008, 11:19
The Pope, Joseph Ratzinger, has outlawed use of “feminist alterations” such as refering to God as “the creator” rather than “the father, son and holy spirit”. The Vatican decreed that anyone being baptised using alternate phrases such as “creator”, “redeemer” and “Sanctifier” must be re-baptised using the traditional words.
The Congregation of the Doctrine of the Faith said yesterday: “These variations arise from so-called feminist theology and are an attempt to avoid using the words Father and Son, which are held to be chauvinistic.” Instead, it said that the traditional form of “Father, Son and Holy Ghost” had to be respected.”
From The Telegraph
Before his visit to the US Ratzinger also condemned gay relationships and abortion and praised the US for respecting the union of marriage between a man and a woman. I guess we now know who Bush’s greatest ally is - now that’s a real axis of evil.

Soo...does the Pope not believe that God is the creator, redeemer, and sanctifier? That sounds mildly blasphemous.

One more reason to give when people ask me why I left the Catholic Church. The pope's an asshole.
