News from Afghanistan

Here is a screenshot of the latest newsletter from the Revolutionary Association of the Women of Afghanistan, set up in 1977 and still going strong. I wanted to pick out some stories for an update on the situation there. But what would I choose? The “opium brides”, or girls sold to drug traffickers when their fathers are unable to pay back loans? How about the one-in-eight risk of maternal death? And what would I leave out? I think this speaks to it more eloquently than I can:
