Victory!

Last night a number of F-Word writers and readers were in attendance to see Hackney Council refuse to give Satchmo’s a license to become a Sex Encounters Establishment (strip club).
Thank you and well done to everyone who wrote letters of objection and showed up for the hearing - it worked! For more info see the Stop The Strip Pub website.

What a fantastic night - I was proud to be there, and to witness such incredible community spirit.
What Kate is too modest to mention is the tireless amount of work she and the rest of the team did in making sure this application was refused - leafleting and canvassing hundreds of homes and businesses and generally drumming up enough support that an unprecedented number of people made written objections and almost 100 people turned up for the hearing on the day. I'm assured that's not standard for a local council licensing hearing!
So thanks, Kate and the rest. You did a fantastic thing, and it's really appreciated
xx
