Fantastic News!

A long post is due from me, I know, and will be put together over the weekend. I just wanted to flag this news - The International Criminal Court has appointed Professor Catherine Mackinnon as it's advisor on gender crimes.
She will provide strategic advice to his Office on sexual and gender violence, an area where expertise is required under Article 42(9) of the Rome Statute. Professor MacKinnon will assist Prosecutor Moreno-Ocampo and Deputy Prosecutor, Fatou Bensouda - the OTP focal point for gender issues - and work with the Office’s Gender and Children Unit , the specialized unit working on gender issues across all the Office’s cases. Her immediate priority will be to further develop the approach to gender crimes in the Office’s cases. Professor MacKinnon will also be working on Office-wide strategic approaches to gender issues. “We are thankful to Professor MacKinnon. Her advice will be an invaluable asset both to my Office and to the broader goal of advancing gender issues in international criminal law” said Prosecutor Moreno-Ocampo.
I was lucky enough to hear her speak at the LSE earlier this autumn and was stunning by her energy and passion. This can only be a good thing for women wordlwide.

Not that fantastic. Her anti-porn ordnances were a bad joke and a disaster for feminism.

Yes indeed most welcome news to read that Catherine MacKinnon has been appointed Advisor on Gender Crimes.
Even better that Fword are publicising this very important news and yes, it is in all women's interests that Prof. MacKinnon has accepted. Prof. MacKinnon's analysis and understanding of male-centered and male-defined legal theory and practice is of the highest order. Which explains of course, why Prof. MacKinnon is routinely dismissed by many males as being rabidly anti-male.
