Hillary Clinton appointed US Secretary of State
by Laura Woodhouse // 1 December 2008, 16:16
US President-elect Barack Obama has announced that Hillary Clinton will take the role of Secretary of State under his administration. As a vocal supporter of women's rights nationally and internationally, Clinton should help reverse the Bush administration's pitiful record on foreign policy related to women's rights and development worldwide.
In particular, it is hoped that the new administration will end the so-called global gag rule which prevents any international family planning groups which receive US funding from advising women on abortion. Fingers crossed...

"As a vocal supporter of women’s rights nationally and internationally, Clinton should help reverse the Bush administration’s pitiful record on foreign policy related to women’s rights and development worldwide."
As someone who has been the most vocal supporter of vicious ethnic cleansing in Palestine and American imperialism in Iraq and Afghanistan I find this remark rather absurd. Why don't you inform the woman who are burying their dead sons and daughters in the very near future she is a bastion of their rights?
"Hillary Clinton supported Sanctions vs Iraq (1990-2003, 1.2 million under-5 infant deaths), the Iraq War (2003-2008, 0.6 million infant deaths) and the Afghan War (2.2 million infant deaths), 4 million in all, and 90% avoidable.
These estimates come from publicly available data published by UNICEF (see: http://www.unicef.org/infobycountry/index.html ) and corroborated by data published by the United Nations Population Division (see: http://esa.un.org/unpp/ ). "
