World Wide Women, Sheffield

The World Wide Women conference is taking place in Sheffield on Saturday 24th October. It seeks to "place the position of women in relation to economic inequality, injustice, disease, violence and poverty under the microscope of feminism". Speakers include:

On Africa: Marie-Claire Faray-Kele UK WILPF, Common Cause UK (Platform of Congolese Women in the UK) and WDDRC (Women for the Development of the DRC)

On Europe: Linda McAvan MEP
Member Yorkshire and the Humber, serves on the Development Committee and the Joint African, Caribbean and Pacific-European Union Assembly

On the UK: Ann Hamilton
Vice-chair End Violence Against Women Coalition, Head of Trafficking Awareness Raising Alliance, Trustee Zero Tolerance Trust, Principal Policy Development Officer (Equality) & Lead Officer on Prostitution Glasgow City Council.

On Sheffield: Helen Jackson
Former MP for Sheffield Hillsborough, Member Women’s National Commission, Trustee Fawcett Society

The speeches will be followed by workshops in which women can share ideas and discuss ways of moving forward on the issues raised.
