Vagina Rex and the Gas Oven

There’s a chance this Sunday to see a reading of the early women’s liberation play Vagina Rex and the Gas Oven in London.
According to Arts Admin, Jane Arden’s play “was the first theatre work to come out of the Women’s Liberation Movement in Britain when it was staged at the Drury Lane Arts Lab in 1969. To mark its 40th anniversary Unfinished Histories are staging a reading of the play followed by a roundtable discussion.”
You can book tickets and get venue info here.
The staging of Vagina Rex and the Gas Oven is part of the Unfinished Histories project - you can read Red Chidgey’s review of their CD about women’s theatre troupes in the 1970s and 1980s here.
