Birds Eye View programme out now

Birds Eye View has posted its full programme for its next film festival, running from 4-12 March at London's ICA and BFI. Tickets go on sale 10 February.
The festival closes with Whip It! - Drew Barrymore's directoral debut, a coming of age roller derby riot with Ellen Page in the lead; I saw a screener a few weeks ago and it's fantastic.
There's a massive array of films on this year, as always loads of it is really tempting, including a section on "cinema by women outside the world's main filmmaking centres, focussing our lens in on Kenya and India" (although isn't Bollywood a film-making centre?!) I'm really keen to see the documentary about environmental activist Wangari Maathai (profiled briefly here).
This year's retrospective focuses on iconic blond women in film history, including a talk by feminist film theorist Laura Mulvey.
As a sidenote, this month the ICA is also running a mini-season of films by/about Japanese women and girls, with the Japan Foundation.
