"Unbought & Unbossed"

electionposter.jpgA documentary on Shirley Chisholm's campaign for US president in 1972 is available to watch free online.

You do have to download a special player to watch Chisholm '72, but I definitely recommend it. (Or alternatively you can buy it on DVD here.)

"I ran for the Presidency, despite hopeless odds, to demonstrate the sheer will and refusal to accept the status quo... The next time a woman runs, or a black, a Jew or anyone from a group that the country is 'not ready' to elect to its highest office, I believe that he or she will be taken seriously from the start... I ran because somebody had to do it first." - Shirley Chisholm, The Good Fight

(See also this post about Chisholm on Racialicious, from back in the 2008 US presidential election.

Also, I haven't read all of this article but it's illustrated with loads of fantastic badges from Chisholm's campaign.)
