Portugal enforces anti-abortion law

A Portuguese court has convicted a doctor and his assistant of carrying out abortions, and three women have been found gilty of having their pregnancies terminated.

Portugal has strict anti abortion laws, but according to the Feminist Majority Foundation, public opinion is in favour of a change in the law.

Let’s hope this is one of the last cases of its kind before the Socialist government’s planned referendum.
