A vasectomy at the touch of a button

// 14 February 2008

I’ve had a piece published on The Guardian’s Cif page today discussing contraception, and how it can medicalise the male and female body, and make sex a clinical process. I wrote the article having read a report that scientists at the University of Adelaide are developing a new form on contraception for men, which involves the implantation of a mechanism into the sperm carrying tubes. This acts as a barrier and is controlled by a remote.

While I’m sure a lot of people may disagree with what I am saying, I’m always amazed at the hostility directed against a lot of writers on Cif.

The puns made up for it though?!

I can no longer read CiF because of the hostility and vitriol shown towards the female writers. It makes me far too angry and upset to read some of the dangerously ignorant comments. But I think you guys are remarkable for continuing to contribute.

I have to agree with Victoria, I find CiF very difficult to read because of the comments, but I am glad that you are continuing to write for it.
