Vote for the most offensive PETA campaign at Feministing

// 3 March 2008

Feministing is running a poll to pick the PETA campaign most hated by feminists. You can vote here.

This follows their latest idiotic stunt in London, pilloried by Laura only a few days ago.

Meanwhile, the PETA2 blog is asking for comments naming readers’ favourite animal rights’ songs. Smite Me! helpfully suggests The Sexual Politics of Meat by Consolidated (click through to see a video of the song on YouTube, with Spanish translation). Although if the bloggers also left a comment to this effect on the PETA2 blog, it has not shown up, surprise surprise.

I happen to be in the middle of the book of the same name at this very moment*. Perhaps it’s time for the folks at PETA to crack it open as well.

*Review possibly forthcoming…

I also highly recommend Adams’s other book, The Pornography of Meat. It’s not quite as dense and theoretical, and she includes lots of great photos for illustration.
