FEM08 this Saturday!

// 24 April 2008

The national feminist conference, FEM08, is taking place this Saturday in my delightful home town, Sheffield. Germaine Greer will be there, people! I’ll be floating around in a lovely purple t-shirt doing various volunteery things, as well as helping coordinate a workshop on resisting the expansion of Hooters, while Jess will be taking part in a seminar on grassroots feminist media and zohra will be speaking on global female poverty.

Unfortunately for those of you who didn’t get round to registering, all the places are now full, but we hope to see some F Word readers there!

I’ll be there with my Glasgow peeps! The Glasgow Feminist Massiv! Woop woop!

I am a bit over excited.

I’ve never been to Sheffield before.

I hope there’s loads of stalls with exciting things to take home. Is everyone coming to the after party? Let’s kick up a dancing feminist storm in Sheffield!

I’ll be there! The speakers & workshops look really good this year, and excited about hearing Germaine speak.

I’ll be there! I’m going to be working on a survey of feminists with Kristin Aune. Look out for us and say hi!

I can’t wait! I’m meeting with the rest of the Birmingham Feminists very early tomorrow morning, and we are coming up on the train! We are all soooo excited, I hope to come away with loads of resources and information! I’m going to give my team at work a briefing on the day on Monday, as I work for a (feminist) organisation that supports women and children affected by domestic violence, so I hope to learn something! See everybody tomorrow! x

No matter how much I begged my parents they wouldn’t let me go (I live in the Highlands). I really wanted to go, especially to hear Germaine Greer speak. Oh well, another year maybe.
