Article on the Details of the Stop The Strip Pub Hearing

// 16 May 2008

I wrote an article today that’s up on BBC London. Mostly of interest to those who (a) want to know how a local town hall licensing committee hearing works or (b) just want to gloat about we-won, we-won, no strip club on my road!

This is great news: I was wondering, could Katy get the support of all those who opposed the strip pub to sign the online petition raised by Object,

Its currently at 377 signatories and growing fast!

Keep up the great work, Audrey

Sadly not really – we were going door-to-door. I only know the 525 number from the council – many people wrote directly to the council after we spoke to them so we don’t even know who they are.

The issues are slightly different too. The Object campaign (which I personally fully support) is about forcing lap-dancing bars to be licensed as Sex Encounters Establishments. In Hackney – where Satchmo’s is – this is already the case. Hence why we had the opportunity to object and go to the hearing.

I imagine that those who chose to object would want the chance to object in the same fashion if they lived elsewhere. But I don’t have a list of objectors and many may not be on the internet.
