Manchester Abortion Rights Meeting and Northern Ireland Petition

// 18 September 2008

An Abortion Rights public meeting will be taking place this coming Tuesday in Manchester as part of the Labour Party Conference fringe:

Tuesday 23rd Sept 12.45pm

The Rain Bar, 80 Great Bridgewater Street

All pro-choice supporters welcome – this will be an opportunity for supporters in the North West to build their networks

Join us to discuss how the Labour movement can help to defend and extend women’s fundamental rights ahead of further critical abortion votes this autumn.

Speakers include: Katie Clark MP; Katrina Murray, UNISON; Dr Audrey Simpson, fpaNI; Louise Hutchins, Abortion Rights. Chair: Ann Henderson Scottish TUC and Abortion Rights

Buffet provided.

The venue is two minutes walk from Manchester Central conference centre – turn right out of the and left onto Great Bridgewater Street

A meeting in the North, with a buffet?? Hell yes. Seriously, this is a great opportunity to network and build the campaign to extend abortion rights.

And if you haven’t already done so, please sign this petition to extend the 1967 Abortion Act to Northern Ireland, where women are currently unable to access abortion.

Yay! It’s so nice not to have to go to London. I can even combine it with having lunch so I don’t have to feel guilty about not being in my office. :D

Can we just turn up or do we have to email someone or something.

Since that is right around the corner from me, I would have loved to attend. Unfortunately, I have a job…12.45pm…anything going on in the evening?

Although I wouldn’t get too excited about the buffet, based on my experience of party-conference fringe meetings :-)

Lorna – I think we can just turn up, that’s what I’m doing anyway!

Jennifer-Ruth – I’m afraid I don’t know if there’s anything going on in the evening, I’m probably hitting the gin…
