The Ms Fitz Project

A group of lovely, lovely people from Leeds queer/feminist collective Manifesta have launched a project aimed at bringing feminist and queer positive events and activities to young people. Ms Fitz will provide a friendly, supportive space for young people who do not or choose not to fit into the mainstream, helping them access and become active in gender and minority politics through workshops, zines and social events.

You can find out more on their myspace page and, if you’re between 13 and 19, submit your poems, art, musings and ideas on… whatever takes your fancy! If you could change one thing about your school or college, what would it be? How do you feel about the word “gay” being used to mean “stupid” or “rubbish”? What experience do you have of being an outsider?

The project is in its infancy, so if you’d like to get involved, either as a young person or an older project coordinator, make friends with Ms Fitz on myspace, or email yactivism[at]yahoo.co.uk.
