Letter writing: keep Waltham Forest African Well Woman’s Service…

// 18 March 2009

Forward UK is urging supporters to write to the Waltham Forest PCT, to protest plans to integrate its African Well Woman’s Service into generic sexual and reproductive health services in the area.

The service was specifically set up to cater to local women affected by FGM, and is only one of 14 such services across the UK. Forward says:

We are seriously concerned that this will mean no access to vital specialist services for hundreds of women affected by Female Genital Mutilation who would need support and specialist care.

We need your help to convince the PCT that they should reconsider their position on this and continue to fund a separate and specialist service for women who have experienced Female Genital Mutilation

Forward has put together a template letter, which you can find on their website, and wants everyone to write to Waltham Forest PTC’s chief executive Sally Gorham at:

Waltham Forest PCT,

Kirkdale House,

7 Kirkdale Road,

Leytonstone,

London E11 1HP
