Birmingham Fems hold ‘veg out’ fundraiser for Reclaim the Night

// 11 June 2009

Birmingham Fems invite you to a ‘veg out’ in July, to raise money for the city’s Reclaim the Night.

On 23 July, at the Warehouse Cafe:

Come to this special night at the Warehouse Cafe to help raise funds for Birmingham’s own Reclaim the Night event.

Tickets will be on sale from Mid June. If you want to be kept up to date on where and when to buy them, join this event as ‘attending’ and we will keep you posted.

We will be having some delicious food and excellent entertainment. Confirmed entertainment includes an acoutistic set by Kate Finch (‘an angry women with a down tuned guitar’), poetry by Mary Sheard, plus guests and raffle. (Watch this space for news of raffle prizes.)

Food will be delicious – you dont have to be a veggie to love the Warehouse’s food.

Starter: Summer Mezze (inc. Mediterranean crispbread, aubergine dip, butterbean and basil dip, sun-blush tomatoes, house marinated olives, artichoke hearts)

Choice of mains:

Thai green summer vegetable curry, lime-infused rice, crispy fried noodle

Savoury cheesecake with English goat’s cheese and baby spinach on nut base, Mediterranean potato salad, red pepper jam and rocket pesto (contains nuts)

Hand made sun dried tomato and brown lentil sausages, Savoy cabbage and leek colcannon, wilted cherry tomatoes, gravy

Choice of Desserts:

Lime and Ginger cheesecake with lemongrass syrup or

Hot and sticky chocolate brownie with vanilla ice cream

Enjoy all this whilst knowing that you are raising money for Reclaim the Night Birmingham. Even though Reclaim the Night marches have been going on since the 1970’s, women still dont feel safe on the streets at night and the conviction rate for rape is still incredibly low. We want to bring this campaign against violence to Birmingham this autumn.
