Thank you very much Jules for using this opportunity to publicise the appalling numbers of men charged with raping women being acquitted. Nearly 95% males charged with rape are acquitted and whilst the conviction rate has increased by a ‘huge’ (sic) 5.6% to 6.5% approximately, this is not an improvement despite Vera Baird’s claims to the contrary.

Until such time as conviction rates for rape reach at least 75% thereby demonstrating to male rapists, this crime will not be excused/justified/minimalised or denied – male sexual violence against women will continue ad naseum. Remember the statistic for false rape allegations is still between 2-8% which is miniscule compared to the huge numbers of men raping women – see the British Crime Survey for statistics concerning numbers of women reporting a man/men raping them. The figures themselves show that a tiny minority of men could not possibly have engaged in multiple rape during the course of just one year, given so many women have stated they were subjected to male sexual violence.
