// 2 September 2009

Sociological Images highlighted this ad for perfume, noting that the cats “actually look at the camera and definitely appear to be alive, giving them more subjectivity than the women have”. See the full series of ads over at Sociological Images.

Yuk. Looks like they’re feasting on a corpse.

and look at the position of her legs…

the whole glamourising of rape/death is so weird and really worring.

The image is quite eerie…she looks like a mannequin.

This is entirely bizarre. I can’t quite make it out. What is that black thing underneath her body on the sofa? Is it a tail? Then there’s another thing that looks like a seat belt? The cats are definately in control in this image. You can tell by their higher positions. It looks to me like they are keeping her prisoner or are guarding her. The cat on the right is looking slightly off centre as if watching out for something that the viewer can’t see. Weird. The glow in the cats’ eyes definately display more life than the palor of the woman’s skin.
