Gude Cause

// 11 October 2009

Yesterday was a major day for feminists; as well as the conference which some of us F-Worders attended, women took to the streets of Edinburgh for the Gude Cause – a re-enactment of a key procession in the story of the Scottish suffrage movement. Organisers estimate that the march was 4,500-5,000 strong.

You can see some great photos over on Fiona Skillen’s Flickr Stream (I’m using her photo above, with permission), also on sufragista2009’s Flickr stream. Hopefully we’ll have a write-up of the day for you soon!

Feminist Avatar has a report on this on her blog

and points out, that it wasn’t just a historical reenactment, as reported, but an activist event.
