Victoria Baths Fanzine Convention

// 13 May 2011

If you’re in Manchester this Saturday (13th May), the Victoria Baths Fanzine Convention will explore the past, present and future of self-publishing in the beautiful setting of Manchester’s Victoria Baths.

With stalls featuring self-published books, zines and pamphlets alongside talks, a film screening and workshops – although not ostensibly feminist, the convention is anticipating a feminist zine presence.

Feminism, of course, has a long history with DIY publishing and zine making, particularly prominent amongst third wave and Riot Grrrl feminists.

The convention will also feature:

A screening of $100 Dollars and a T-Shirt, a documentary about fanzines in Portland.

A talk from DJ/writer Dave Haslam on post-punk zines.

A workshop with Fever Zine’s Alex Zamora, exploring how zines can be developed for the digital age.
