From this month, The F-Word will have a monthly music playlist up on Spotify and shared via June’s playlist is now available for your listening pleasure and please do let us know what you make of it. We came up with the idea of a monthly playlist as a means of introducing readers to a wide range of music, some old, some new, and some of which you may never have heard before and may even come to love.

Here’s a couple of tasters for you…

This is a great idea! I love your posts on music Cazz, so I’ll be interested to see what you and the collective come up with. Just one question: will there be chance for reader suggestions and collaboration on themed playlists, a la the Guardian’s Readers Recommend? I love this sort of music nerdery.

Hi Hannah,

Thanks for this, I’m pleased you like it. We haven’t set up the Spotify account using the social function that (I think) you can use so that multiple people can add to it, but if you did have suggestions you could post them here or on future playlist blog posts. We weren’t planning themed playlists, but you never know… we haven’t said we wouldn’t do them…

We are still looking for music reviewers though so if your music nerdery would extend to writing reviews you are of course welcome to get in touch about that too.

Hi, does anyone know how to make this work in Firefox? It says “Firefox doesn’t know how to open this address, because the protocol (spotify) isn’t associated with any program.”. Usually I download things by right-clicking and choosing “Save Link As”, but when I do that on the “Play!” button I get no response.

Hi Susan, sorry it’s taken me a few days to get to this – I’ve been offline since Saturday. Sorry to hear you’re having problems accessing the playlist via Firefox. I’m not familiar enough with Firefox to have any ideas, but if anyone else knows feel free to get in touch.

Following my previous comment, I found out what I was missing: you have to join Spotify and instal and run the program before the playlist link will work. The free version requires an invite code (and plays an ad every 2 or 3 tracks). I know someone who has invite codes, unless they’ve all gone.
